Huge congrats to all the winners and runners up on the night, especially our talented Big Fish cast, Damien Hurley (Best Actor - Runner Up) & Seán O'Callaghan (Best Youth in an Adult Show - Runner Up) ⭐ many friends of the society stood on the stage last night, we are so thrilled & proud of you all ⭐

We are holding open auditions for the role of 'Lurch' for our upcoming production of The Addams Family in November 2025.

Could you be this mostly silent but always commanding character? The Addams Family require their loyal and loved butler to complete the family unit.

#1 - Wednesday Addams causes huge family upset as she announces her engagement to Lucas Beineke. Will she 'Marry the Man' or will family influences cause a divide between them? 💍

#2 - Pugsely Addams creates his own 'Potion Notion' as he slips some truth serum into the sacred chalic, causing pure anarchy to unfold 🧪

#3 - The Addams family resides in the iconic Central Park in 'NYC (there's something about you!)' 🗽

#4 - Although not set in Spain like Man of La Mancha, Gomez Addams' family tree dates back to Spanish Inquisition with stong roots with his Spanish ancestors 🇪🇸

#5 - Following our production of Big Fish in 2024, we're low-key obsessed with Andrew Lippa's beautiful scores - The Addams Family is another gem that he composed (Sandra Bloom's yellow dress is just a coincidental clue!) 🎼

☠️ 2025 SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT ☠️

We are delighted to share The Addams Family as our November 2025 show choice 🖤

In the kooky, upside-down world of the Addams Family, to be sad is to be happy, to feel pain is to feel joy, and death and suffering are the stuff of their dreams. Nonetheless, this quirky family still has to deal with many of the same challenges faced by any other family, and the spookiest nightmare faced by every family creates the focus Lippa, Brickman, and Elice’s musical: the Addams kids are growing up. The Addamses have lived by their unique values for hundreds of years, and Gomez and Morticia, the patriarch and matriarch of the clan, would be only too happy to continue living that way. Their dark, macabre, beloved daughter Wednesday, however, is now an eighteen year-old young woman who is ready for a life of her own. She has fallen in love with Lucas Beineke, a sweet, smart boy from a normal, respectable Ohio family — the most un-Addams sounding person one could be! And to make matters worse, she has invited the Beinekes to their home for dinner. In one fateful, hilarious night, secrets are disclosed, relationships are tested, and the Addams family must face up to the one horrible thing they’ve managed to avoid for generations: change.

Our 'Young Will' as Young Seán ⭐

Like many musical societies, HXT are very much a family, with lots of special relationships formed over the many years of doing shows. Friends, husbands, wives, children - we've seen it all!

A full circle moment is of course the involvement of the wonderfully talented children on stage with us, associated through their parents, aunties and uncles. They achieve a cute factor that us adults could only dream of having!

You will have seen Seán O'Callaghan introduced as our Young Will yesterday. Seán's first appearance with HXT was at the age of three in our 2017 production of The Hired Man. Riddled with talent, he's had many wonderful theatre & movie experiences since and we're delighted to have him back with us this year ⭐

The Addams Family – A Musical Comedy

They're creepy, kooky, and hitting the stage in a spectacularly spooky musical adventure! The Addams Family brings Charles Addams' beloved characters to life in a hilarious and heart-warming story about family, love, and embracing what makes us unique.
